Choosing your next job is a serious business.  The time and effort you spend on deciding what is the right move for you will pay off.

I've had experience of interviewing for a huge variety of roles over the years.  The style and techniques may have changed but the objective is the same - to recruit the person with the closes fit in terms of skills and attitude to do the job effectively.  And it's a great feeling when you do.

Recently I've come across quite a lot of bad feeling about psychometrics - particularly personality profiles.  Often used as part of a recruitment exercise, candidates frequently get little or no feedback whatsoever about the results of the psychometric profile they have completed.

One of the first things I often ask clients is if you were to think of yourself as a brand, which brand would you be and why.

Looking back on my own career I had no grand plan.  In fact it faltered at the first hurdle, when I dropped out of uni after the first year.  All I knew was that I wanted to speak French every day in my work and that I wanted to be 'in charge'!
